More than 12,000 people and their pets gather at a unique event in São Paulo

Pet Experience exceeded visitors' expectations with attractions for dogs, cats and even gardening fans.

The fun was "hairy" this weekend for pet owners, dogs and cats of all breeds and sizes. From August 30th to September 1st, Pet Experience, Latin America's first mega event for pet lovers, welcomed approximately 12,000 people and their pets at an event focused on fun, socialization and pet care.

The event, held at the São Paulo Expo pavilion and organized by NürnbergMesse Brasil in partnership with Petz, featured diverse activities and a lot of content, as well as stars from the pet world. Pet owners and their faithful companions enjoyed a busy weekend at the more than 14,000 m² of space devoted to experiences. And the cold and rain did not deter the public, as the event space is covered and climate controlled, so the pets could enjoy themselves.

One of the most anticipated attractions for everyone attending was the presentation by Jackson Galaxy, the “cat charmer.” Host of the TV show “My Cat from Hell,” which has been on the air for over eight years, the cat trainer came to Brazil for the first time to share his knowledge with cat owners. His presentation packed the Pet Experience Arena-Cinema with over a thousand people. The autograph and photo session was also busy, and Jackson delighted the audience with his charm and attention.

Other Petz stars such as Alexandre Rossi and mutts Estopinha and Barthô, catlovers Isa and Raphael Dizus, host Julinho Casares, journalist Celso Zucatelli, accompanied by Paçoca and Tapioca, and host and animal rights supporter Penélope Nova also delighted visitors with their presence and content.

Among the attractions, the Dog Play Area was a great success. Dogs of all sizes, along with their owners, were able to have fun on a circuit full of challenges and obstacles in an area of almost 500 square meters. Visitors were also entertained by the dog show promoted by the CBKC (Brazilian Confederation of Cinophilia), which exhibited 287 dog breeds of all sizes and shapes, such as Dobermans, Basenjis, Newfoundlands, Akitas and many others.

The Dog Adoption area was also quite busy. Dozens of animals, puppies and adults, were given a new chance in life and went to loving homes.

The attractions for cats were also popular. The exhibition of exotic cats aroused everyone's interest. There was also a special area for cats to socialize and play, which was attended by a lot of people. The space was created in partnership with the NGO “Adote um Gatinho” (Adopt a Cat), in order to promote the adoption of cats.

The Garden Area was equally popular. The space hosted workshops, presentations and demonstrations during the event days and was packed with visitors! From fertilizing tips to the best plants for animal environments, visitors enjoyed the beautiful space, filled with flowers, and had the chance to bring home seedlings and plants.

Fun for the whole family

Support analyst Marcela Vieira, 28, took her three Yorkshire dogs, Mel, Sofia and Lilica, for some fun. “I had never heard of an event for dogs, just outdoor park events. It was great. They loved it, interacting with other dogs and people,” she said.

Luke, a Shih-Tzu belonging to Carmen Ferreira, 31, also had a great time. “It was his first time at a closed dog event. For people who don't have children - we only have them- there aren't many options in São Paulo to go out with a dog. It was a very interesting idea,” Carmen affirmed.

According to João Paulo Picolo, president of NürnbergMesse Brasil, the idea to bring families to the event was a success. “We know that pets are part of the family, so we decided to create an event that included everyone- pets, adults and children. We are already planning an even bigger edition for next year and we are certain that Pet Experience will become one of the most important events in the São Paulo pet calendar,” he concluded.

The market's receptiveness and support confirmed that Pet Experience was a great success. “The reaction of the public surprised us in a positive way, because we not only had an exceptional public, but, more importantly, people who were delighted with the event and wanted to know the dates of the next edition. Suppliers are also very pleased, announcing that they will attend the fair next year. We were able to create an event that will become part of the pet event calendar of the city of São Paulo,” said Sergio Zimmerman, president of Petz, which currently has 93 stores in Brazil.

The number of visitors also surprised Royal Canin do Brasil, one of PETXP's sponsors. “For us, it was a fantastic event. We brought together opinion makers, dog breeders, cat breeders and partner NGO vets, all with the well-being of the people who love their pets in mind. For brand visibility, the event was sensational. A lot of people were able to share information, and we hope it's the first of many events,” said Mariana Rocha, the company's marketing manager.

The next edition already has a date. It will take place from August 28th to 30th, 2020, at São Paulo Expo.
